Helping Neighbors CPR. About

History.

My name is Cliff Cheng.  I started Helping Neighbor CPR to teach CPR and first aid to my neighbors who needed to be trained as part of our work in the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program.  CERT is a program of volunteers that is in every state in the U.S. and 7 countries.  We live in earthquake country, Los Angeles, California.

My history in emergency preparedness starts back in elementary school.  I took part in the Junior Fire Department; which was about helping our families and neighbors learn about fire safety.  Later I was in the Auto Club's School Safety program which was about  teaching safety to our fellow students.  I was fortunate to go to a junior high school that had an amateur radio program.  Ham radio on the one hand is about reaching out and communicating, especially to those in far away lands who have languages and cultures which are different than our own.  One learns a great deal about radio electronics.
